HIATUS
I will be on hiatus for a few weeks. I’m not sure if I’ll post at all- maybe now and then so you know I’m still alive, but I won’t be doing intake posts. Actually, I’m kind of temporarily off eating for weight loss, just for a brief time. I’m not crazy and I’m not sick- this is just for religious purposes, and while I’ll actually be eating quite...

TMWLC: Week 3, Day 7
Day XX!: Do you listen to music when you work out?
Often. I like to listen to music when I work out. Sometimes, I listen to an upbeat playlist with everything from Kesha to Vampire Weekend to Avril Lavigne to Madonna. Other times, I’m more inspired by moving classical music like Tchaikovsky.
Unfortunately, my iPod is currently at the house of a certain relative with whom I am not...

TMWLC: Week 3, Days 5 & 6
Day XIX: Have you ever lied to avoid eating something?
I’ve lied that I’m vegetarian in some situations in order to be given a healthier option. I also sometimes tell people I’m not hungry when I am because I’d rather suffer it out and have something else later.
Day XX: Do you binge? How often and what triggers it?
Yes, sometimes. There are a lot of very complicated...

TMWLC: Week 3, Day 4
Day XVIII: Do you have to eat any meals with your family? Are they for or against your diet?
I am at school most of the year, so I don’t eat any meals with my family durin that time. When I am at home for breaks, I take care of my own breakfast and lunch unless we are out, and I cook dinner myself most of the time for the whole family. I simply make substitutions to account for my diet and...

TMWLC: Week 3, Day 3
Day XVII: Have you ever been called fat? Or skinny?
I’ve been called skinny more times than I’ve been called fat, even though the latter was true for the majority of my life. I think it’s just more socially acceptable to point out that someone is thin, even too thin, rather than that they are overweight. Really, I don’t think anyone needs to be commenting on the appearance...

Day XVI: Have you ever missed a work out just because you couldn’t be bothered?
Yes. Or rather, because I have to walk to the gym and it was really cold or rainy or something. That’s generally the reason I’d give up. That, or a huge amount of homework.

TMWLC: Week 3, Day 1
Week THREE!
Weekly Challenge: Add an extra 30 minutes to each work out this week, or if you weren’t going to work out at all one day, work out for 30 minutes!
Day XV: What is your favourite kind of exercise?
In terms of planned workouts, my favorite things to do are walking, elliptical, and pilates. I also love things like “Just Dance” for wii, which barely feel like a workout...
Thanks for all the suggestions!!!
I really appreciate it. The links are great, and though I’m not a fan of PETA, the Vegan College Cookbook sounds perfect! Thanks again! ♥
howtgotherswagback asked: Whenever I do a vegan detox, I found that soups are my best friend, and very good for this type of weather. Also green smoothies are fantastic for you. I usually would stock my pantry with brown rice, quinoa, 2 types of leafy greens, veggies, lentils, garbanzos, black beans, oatmeal, almond milk, lots of fresh veggies and fruits. My personal favorite thing ever is vegan bread topped with...

Calling all vegans (especially those in college!)
Vegan meals (preferably ones that don’t involve cooking with oil) that I can eat on a college meal plan, and that don’t require me to buy a ton of groceries. I’d really like to use the basics available to me at the cafeteria as much as possible. There’s bread, fruit, raw veggies, salad, etc… but I want different ways to combine those things so it doesn’t get...

TMWLC: Week 2, Day 7
Day XIV: Do you ever allow yourself a “rest day” from exercise or a “cheat day” from your diet?
Yeah, I occasionally allow a cheat day, or more often a cheat meal. I try to allow a cheat meal once a week or so, and I’ll allow a whole cheat day on special occasions like holidays. The idea is to make it about eating whatever I want, not as much as I can. Cheating means I can order the sweet...

Question: I have a hard time balancing between my...
The best advice is to just not pay attention to what your friends eat. Don’t look at what they eat, and don’t plan your meals around the times they like to eat. Planning is a big thing. If I allow myself a couple of cookies as a planned treat earlier in the day, it’s easier to say “no, I’ve already had a dessert” when all my friends go for ice cream after dinner.
If you’re going out with...

TMWLC: Week 2, Day 6
Day XIII: Is your diet ever negatively influenced by your friends? Do they pressure/tempt you to eat unhealthy food?
In general, no. Sometimes I’ll have a moment where something my friends are eating/ordering/talking about seems really tempting, but I remind myself that I’ve chosen a different lifestyle than them and I don’t want to be like them (in terms of diet and weight) so...

Intake from yesterday (that I just awkwardly...
I haven’t done my intake in forever, and I’m too lazy to go back and do those few days now, so… sorry. I’ll do better.
Yesterday I was working on broadcasting, so I just stole food from the caf for the day and had soup when I got back. I didn’t even eat everything I brought. I kept asking myself, “do I need to eat yet/more?” and it was usually a no. more on that later…
Brunch: full bag of...

TMWLC: Week 2, Day 5
Day XII: What are your friend’s eating habits like?
I have some friends who are relatively healthy without even thinking about it. They don’t make an effort to do it, but they were raised to eat well so they automatically do.
I have other friends who just don’t eat well at all. They eat a lot of fatty, high-calorie foods and too many sweets, then they occasionally eat a little fruit...

Just realized that Lent is in less than two weeks....
I will be giving up, at various times, meat, diary, oil, alcohol, and sometimes food entirely.
That isn’t really relevant to this blog outside of the fact that I don’t want any readers to see my eating habits during that time and assume that I am going on a strict diet for weight loss purposes. Fasting, cleansing, vegetarianism, and veganism can be fine lifestyle choices for weight...

TMWLC: Week 2, Day 4
Day XI: What are your family’s eating habits like?
Not good. In my immediate family, the tendency is to eat ridiculously small portions whenever one remembers to, with no planning or real interest in food other than as a necessity, and also to pick at things like cookies or cheese and crackers between meals. A day of food might be: two slices of toast with peanut butter, a few crackers with...

note: so sorry that I didn’t post intake again! I’m terrible. I’ll probably end up posting them all at once whenever I get around to it. sorry sorry
Day X: Do you eat breakfast? What do you usually have?
I absolutely always eat breakfast. Generally I eat bread or cereal of some kind. At school, I am most likely to eat either cereal with almond milk, or oatmeal. When I have...
